I noticed Gillard Auto has closed their doors completely. Same with that VW dealer by Rivonia offramp, there weren't even there for a year!

Talking to dealer friend this morning, there is a major shortage of decent second hand stock in the market place at the moment, well DBN anyway.

Dealers have money in the bank, but sparse stock to buy for their show room floors. These guys are very wary of auction stock with its unknown vehicle issues, etc.

That's what I was thinking. If new car sales drops then does that automatically mean used car sales increases?

Yes, the one on Cedar road. It's empty now, with the insides stripped out.

I heard that Gillard was not setling the finances on cars sold, and using the cah flow to fund the business. When they needed to pay the bank eventually, it all came tumbling down...

You've basically summed it up. When the rand went for a ball of shit, car prices went up big time. When the rand strengthened, the prices still went up. Bunch of greedy clowns if you ask me.

I was told the cars disappeared the day before Wesbank went in to shut them down. I was told Gillard can't be contacted. Rumours in the trade - don't know who true that is though.

Just read in new Car that total vehicles sales (projected?) are 1,000,000. Massive sales in the 2nd market. Did not know this sector was so big
